Be creative and action oriented

 For the past few months, I have been involved in a political organization called Cleveland Votes and within that organization, there is a program called More Than My Art which is a program that allows people to brainstorm creative and unique ways to vote. At the end of the program, every participant has to create a creative asset that lures people into voting, and the tagline if you can call it that, is midterm elections. Recently, I helped out with a participant's creative asset and one of the stations I had to manage was community building with arts & crafts which basically was how do people define their communities and how does it look from their perspectives using crafts. I created my community and for mine, I was thinking that community doesn't have to be a specific place, it can be a spiritual journey or a spiritual being that can be your community. Down below, this is what I created. The words that I wrote below the cross are words that encompass my spiritual journey and I'm still on my spiritual journey in the midst of me writing this post. Some of the words that I wrote are Faith, Encouragement, God, Joyfulness and Pain.


     My creative asset event is a multicultural event entitled Flowing Through The Arts. There is going to be performers from different cultural backgrounds and international cuisine. So, if you are a Cleveland native or if you are going to be in the neighborhood, please come! This event is also going to be a voter registration event as well. Voting is very important for me because many people with my skin color weren't able to vote because of the Jim Crow Laws ( https://www.britannica.com/event/Jim-Crow-law).

The pages keep turning

As you guys know, I've been writing about being in therapy and my therapist said I've been doing good since my first appointment so I wouldn't need therapy anymore. My therapist said therapy isn't supposed to be a continuous thing! Of course, if somebody isn't improving with their issues, I guess therapy is needed for a long time basis but the point my therapist was trying to make was that therapy has to have an ending point. I didn't know that therapy had an ending point, but I guess it does eventually. I was sad that my therapy was ending but a new chapter had begun for me with the knowledge and wisdom that my therapist had taught me through my therapy journey. If I keep doing the work to maintain or control my anxiety, I will continue to be aligned with my positive and peaceful journey. Choose You

 My definition of choosing you is to choose thyself FIRST without anybody's judgement or fear of being ridiculed. I truly believe that you have to be your own cheerleader, your parents are going to be there with you, hopefully but I think it's ultimately up to you to have that confidence and to have that drive whatever that drive entails. Maybe it's easier said than done to choose yourself but I don't think it's impossible.       When I was growing up, I didn't know how to choose myself! I was trying to figure me out and the figuring took along time but eventually I figured myself out. God, family and friends made me realize my potential. Everyday I'm choosing myself even if I'm not realizing it. I can't go in the directions that my parents or anybody else wants me to go, I have to choose my journey and destinations and that all trickles down to choosing me and I'm glad as FUCK I'm choosing me.
